This is an unframed pencil and graphite drawing on Arches paper. The image was inspired by the new moon over Storm King Mountain in the Hudson Valley. The positioning of the moon was striking as it appeared above the mountain. I worked on this in an intuitive fashion as I did not want to simply fill in the night sky as black, but to allow atmosphere to prevail.
