This small oil was inspired by a beach in Maine. It was just after a storm and the seaweed mimicked the lap lines of the higher tide. I find myself drawn to the wave-like patterns with their undulating lines which I see in various places along the shoreline. In this case, the lines form a spiral. There is a hint of a second spiral with the shape of the blue water.
It is painted on Claessens double oil primed portrait grade Belgian linen, the stretcher bars are from Simon Liu, and the paint is from Vasari Oil Colors. It is framed with a floater frame in a natural cherry, water based finish from Metropolitan Picture Frames.
