Hoping for More Snow

When you arrive in Windham, NY, there is a trail that takes you through this field. There is a stream running alongside, and that is what I thought I would paint (especially as I have a passion for water!), but the field, mountain, and cloud pattern called to me. "Hoping for More Snow" is really what it's all about in this ski resort as all skiers will attest. This watercolor was painted in my studio from photos. Photography today is often like a sketchbook for an artist. But the colors in the photo were not as you see in my painting: so often as I drove to, from, and around Windham, I noted the purples of the mountains and the greens of the evergreens. I used the colors from my memories here. This painting is archival/conservation mounted, the frame is a golden toned wood frame, and the glass is UV/conservation.
